Bangladesh has proposed resumption of the Uzbek flight between Tashkent and Dhaka to boost trade ties between the two countries.
"The restart of the (Uzbek) flight between Tashkent and Dhaka will further increase bilateral relations in the field of trade and commerce," Bangladesh Ambassador to Uzbekistan Mosud Mannan said.
He made the comments in a meeting between Uzbek Economy Minister Galiva Saidova at the latter's office in Tashkent on Friday, according to a message received in Dhaka on Friday.
The ambassador also urged Uzbekistan to import jute products from Bangladesh and put emphasis on educational exchange programmes at the government and university levels.
He said Bangladesh cultivates a very good number of fishes, prawn and exports fish items to Europe, America and Middle Eastern countries. He requested Uzbekistan to import the quality, nutritious and delicious food items from Bangladesh.
Pointing out that Bangladesh's readymade garment is more popular in the world market, Mannan said Uzbekistan can import these quality RMG products from Bangladesh and set up garment factories.
The Bangladesh envoy proposed import of dry food, agriculture products, equipment and chemicals and setting up of joint venture motor car factories.
Referring to Dhaka's pharmaceutical export to more than 50 countries, he also proposed to import pharmaceutical products from Bangladesh. The ambassador urged the Uzbek side to import tea and have joint venture in the field of software development.
