A RAB mobile court has fined LabAid Hospital in Dhaka Tk 1 million for keeping unauthorised medicines.

The drugs were found during a raid by the elite police unit on the hospital in Dhanmondi on Sunday evening.

RAB-1 Executive Magistrate Md Feroz Ahmed said a 'huge amount' of 26 types of unauthorised medicines were found during the search that lasted around four hours.

LabAid Group Managing Director Dr AM Shamim could not reached for comments despite attempts by bdnews24.com.

Assistant General Manager (Corporate Communication) Saifur Rahman Lenin told bdnews24.com RAB raided only the pharmacies in the hospital.

"The lifesaving drugs that have been seized are not manufactured in the country. We collect them from the importers," he said.

Lenin alleged the RAB team did not want to see the documents on the medicines.

Another mobile court of the elite force on Saturday raided SP Hospital at Mohammadpur and Al-Raji Hospital at Farmgate.

They were fined nearly Tk 2 million for irregularities.

The RAB mobile court also shut down a diagnostic centre at Farmgate for operating without any doctor or nurse.
