Khagrachhari : Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday said the government is determined to maintain a congenial atmosphere in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region and the 'Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord' was signed to restore peace and discipline here.

"The peace treaty was signed between the Bangladeshi Government and the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti (United People's Party of the Chittagong Hill Tracts) only to ensure a peaceful coexistence here . . . All problems can be resolved through negotiation," he told the journalists after laying the foundation stone of Ramgarh Police Station building here.

The minister urged all concerned to reach a fruitful solution through discussion so that the desired peace process can be ensured in hilly areas.

"The misunderstanding or the quarter who are trying to create chaos or unrest in the hill tracts will also end through discussion," he hoped.

Replying to a query, he said the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), if it is necessary, will perform their duty here.

Asaduzzaman categorically said the government will reopen the facebook very shortly.
