Physicians declare Nirob dead

Physicians at Dhaka Medical College Hospital declared Nirob, the six-year old boy who fell into a manhole, dead on Tuesday night.

Dr Sohel Rana of the DMCH Emergency Unit declared the boy dead at about 9pm.

Nirob was rescued from the River Buriganga in an unconscious state at about 8:20pm, confirmed Brig Gen Ali Ahmed Khan, the DG of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Nirob, son of Mohammad Rezaul hails from Madaripur district, was missing since 4:30pm as he fell into a manhole in city's  Shyampur area.

The boy fell into the manhole used for dumping industrial wastes at about 4pm

Meanwhile, fire Service divers started a rescue operation at about 4:30pm.

On December 26, 2014, four-year-old boy Jihad had slipped into an open pipe of an abandoned deep tube-well at Shahjahanpur in the city. His body was recovered 23 hours of hectic rescue operation.
