"We've already invested more than $ 100 million and planned to invest another $ 20 million shortly for network expansion to offer 4G LTE data service to the people living outside Dhaka," Ollo Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Igor Grakovich told BSS in an exclusive interview.
He said they want to invest more in the country for data service evolution if congenial atmosphere is ensured for the sector.
"Our long-term investment is depending on the market, but company's view to reinvest the money getting from the market, and fresh investment would be injected if it is so required," Igor clearly indicated.
He also informed they are investing US$ 100 against per customer for infrastructure development.
Ollo CEO revealed that they have established LTE network in Sylhet, Gopalganj, Jessore, Moulvibazar and Mymensingh districts, and customers of these areas are getting the most advanced data service.
"We've already received tremendous response from the subscribers in Gopalganj and Jessore, and we hope to receive it from other areas too," said Igor.
He, however, noted that the 4G penetration is little bit lower than their expectation.
LTE, an acronym for Long-Term Evolution, commonly marketed as 4G LTE, is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for handset devices.
With the LTE technology, the upload and download speed would be up to 150 Mbps, which is much faster than the current wired connections, said Ollo officials.
About Ollo's future plan, Igor Grakovich said that they would set footprint next in Rangpur, Barisal, Habiganj and other major areas in the country by 2016.
"We've planned to move towards Dhaka by March next after covering major areas of the country," he added.
Earlier, Ollo's network encompassed major areas in Dhaka city-Uttara, Gulshan, Banani, Mohakhali, Dhanmondi, Motijheel and its surrounding areas.
The Ollo chief said they will expand network in new areas of Dhaka on the basis of response. He informed Ollo's old customers would be getting new USIM card with attractive packages from March next. ?BSS
