More banks donated winter clothes and handed over cheques of donation to Prime Minister's (PM) Relief and Welfare Fund under their respective corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme at a function held at the PM's official residence Ganobhaban in the capital on Wednesday.
The blankets and cheques of donation will be distributed among the country's cold-affected poor people in the winter, said press releases.
The banks were NCC Bank Limited (NCC Bank), Prime Bank Limited (PBL) and United Commercial Bank Limited UCB).
NCC Bank: The bank's Vice-chairman Sohela Hossain and Director Abdus Salam handed over 25,000 blankets to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Chairman of Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB) Md Nazrul Islam Mazumder was also present on the occasion.
PBL: Prime Bank Risk Management Committee Chairperson Nasim Anwar Hossain handed over a cheque to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her Relief and Welfare Fund to distribute among the cold-hit people of the country.
The bank's Managing Director Ahmed Kamal Khan Chowdhury was also present on the occasion.
UCB: United Commercial Bank Chairman MA Hashem on behalf of the bank handed over 25,000 pieces of blankets to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. UCB Director Sharif Zahir was also present on the occasion.
