Jamaat-e-Islami on Wednesday called a dawn-to-dusk hartal for Thursday (January 7) protesting the upheld of death penalty of its Ameer war crimes convict Matiur Rahman Nizami.

The party, in a press statement, declared the countrywide daylong hartal hours’ after the Supreme Court order.

The appellate division of the Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the death sentence of war criminal Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami on charge of killing intellectuals, mass killing and rape.
