The Bangladesh Law Digest (BDLD) is a reliable online law magazine introduced by some law-maniac law students of Dhaka University. It is based on www.bdlawdigest.org. It started its journey on June 2, 2015 with a view to providing the lawyers, legal researchers and most importantly the law students with a brilliant array of law materials. It strives to develop legal research and writing skills of students while publishing articles that serve both practitioners and academicians. Each issue is a nexus of theory and practice containing articles by practicing lawyers, judges, and academicians.
BDLD endeavours to act as a vast archive of legal materials. It contains all important law books, research works, legal articles and all the bare Acts of Bangladesh. It also publishes all the important law news with the purpose of keeping the legal minds in touch with the current legal realm of land. Earlier, the law students of Bangladesh had to read different laws, books, cases and articles paying subscription frees to various websites. Now, BDLD made it easy for the learners of jurisprudence to get access to their desired materials on the web for free.
It has an important section called 'Blog' which serves as a great platform for the legal minds to express their ideas and opinions on various legal issues. This section also helps the interested legal minds to analyse recent judicial decisions, new legislation and current law reform proposals. The Blog section is designed to have the widest appeal to those interested in the law- whether as practitioners, students, teachers, judges or administrators- and to provide an opportunity for them to keep abreast of new ideas and the progress of legal reform.
BDLD also decided to publish a quarterly law magazine (in printed volume) which is supposed to encompass all the reliable articles on different contemporary legal issues. For this purpose, it will collect write-ups from law teachers, judges, practicing lawyers and the students.
BDLD is going ahead with the inspirations of its Advisorial Board that consists of the Dean, Faculty of Law, Chairperson and other faculty members of the Law Department, University of Dhaka.
It is expected that the legal learners would be benefited a lot by such a noble endeavour of BDLD. It is hoped that BDLD would act as a catalyst for exceptional academic resource and thus would attract a huge
number of readerships.
