2 Indians held in C’nwabganj

Chapainawabganj: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested two Indian nationals from Bivison border area of Gomastapur upazila on Friday for trespassing.

The arrestees were identified as Abhoy Roy, 36, son of late Ananda Roy of Ziakandar village under Haripur Police Station of Malda district in India, and Shiblalu Murmu, 20, son of Lesa Murmu of Dharampur village under the same police station.

Tipped off, a BGB special patrol team, led by its Bivision company headquarters Habildar Rafiqul Islam, launched a drive in the area around 4:30pm arrested the two Indian nationals from near 219/73 pillar, two kilometres inside the Bangladesh territory, said Director of Naogaon’s BGB battalion-43 Lt Col Zahid Hasan.

The BGB team also recovered some Indian and Bangladeshi currency from their possession.

The arrestees were handed over to Gomastapur Police Station, Zahid Hasan added.
