BNP senior leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Thursday said their party, if voted to power, will provide state facilities and allowance to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War after ascertaining their exact number. Speaking at a protest meeting, he also wanted to know from the Prime Minister whether her government will initiate the task before BNP's return to power. "Our leader (Khaleda) had said there're differences of opinion over the 30 lakh figure of martyrs. Now I'm, on behalf of our leader, is announcing that if you (PM) don't do it, we'll publish a list of martyrs properly counting them if we get back to power," the BNP leader said. Two of its members are still alive." BNP's youth wing Dhaka South city unit Jubo Dal arranged the programme at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh protesting the filing of the sedition case against BNP chief Khaleda Zia over her remarks on the number of martyrs. The BNP leader said the government wants to hang onto power using force as its fears people. "It won't be possible to oust this regime by only raising slogans. We must find out a strategy to do that." ?UNB
