Amid a row between management and employees of Banglalink over the sacking of an engineer, the mobile operator has shut its offices, including its headquarters at Dhaka’s Gulshan.

Offices were closed down at 2:10pm on Sunday, said its PR and Communications Assistant Manager Ankit Sureka.

“It’s only for Sunday,” she told bdnews24.com.

Banglalink Employees’ Union President Ujjal Paul said that staff started to leave the premises after 2pm.

On the night of Thursday, employees confined Chief Technical Officer Perihane Elhamy to the office premises over the dismissal of Senior Engineer Shariful Islam.

She managed to leave the premises after nine hours when police and the management promised to look into the matter.
