Chittagong: Two minor cousins drowned in a pond of Baoria village in Sandwip upazila on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Amir Hamza, 5, son of Panna Miah, and his cousin Jihad, 6, son of Nizam Uddin of the village.

Medical officer of Sandwip Upazila Health Complex Abdur Rob Faisal said Amir slipped into water while he along with his cousin Jihad was playing by the pond near Idris Sareng Mosque in the village at noon.

Jihad also jumped into the water to rescue Amir.

Later, locals rescued them from the pond and took them to the upazila health complex where doctors declared them dead.
