
The incident took place in front of United Commercial Bank Limited at section-10 of Mirpur on Saturday.
A bank official said several thousand ticket aspirants gather in the bank to collect tickets against a small number of tickets in the bank.
The aspirants become angry due to shortage of tickets. At one stage, the aspirants clash with the members of law enforcing agencies, the official said. Police lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the ticket seekers, triggering a clash that left 15 people injured.
The agitators threw brick chips to police. Later they entered the alleys in the area and vandalised some vehicles.
Traffic on the busy road from Mirpur Golchattar to Mirpur-12 bus stand came to a halt for nearly one hour after the incident.
Police detained 8/10 people from the spot.
