Mahfuz Anam gets bail in Jessore

A Jessore court on Sunday granted bail to The Daily Star Editor and Publisher Mahfuz Anam in a  defamation case.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Shahjahan Ali passed the order after Anam appeared before the court seeking bail.

The court fixed May 10 for next hearing of the case.

The court granted the bail upon a bond of Tk 5,000 with two guarantors.

Chougachha upazila Awami League unit former president Shahjahan Kabir filed Tk 10-crore defamation case on February 16 against the Star Editor.
