Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Tuesday said that the government would file a case against Federal Reserve Bank of New York if necessary over the hacking of around $100 million (Tk 780 crore) from foreign currency account of Bangladesh Bank.
The minister made the statement while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.
Replying to a query about the government's steps against the bank's rejection of responsibility, the minister said, "We are depositing money to the bank, the bank authority cannot not avoid the responsibility. So a case will be filed against them.”
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, however, has denied that its payments systems were breached after Bangladesh's central bank said earlier on Monday that its US account had been hacked and money stolen from it.
