MUNSHIGANJ, Mar 12: Through the Liberation War in 1971, the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of Independent Bangladesh became materialised.
Media Advisor to the Prime Minister and Editor of The Daily Observer Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury made this comment while he was speaking as chief guest at a reception organised by Ekush Bikrampur Tongibari on the Tongibari Upazila Parishad ground at 8pm on Friday.
He further said, after the gruesome killing of Bangabandhu along with his family members in 1975, the nation saw the rebirth of anti-liberation forces that the following governments rehabilitated.
But, now the trial of all the war criminals has begun and the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has kept her commitment in this regard, the Media Advisor added.
In the reception programme, Secretary General of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Omar Faruque, Mayor of Munshiganj Municipality Hazi Md Foysal Biplob and Mayor of Mirkadim Municipality Shahidul Islam Shahin were accorded reception.
Chairman of Tongibari Upazila Parishad and Advisor to Ekush Bikrampur Tongibari Engineer Quazi Wahid presided over the programme.
Among others, former Whip Sagufta Yeasmin Emily, MP, Managing Director and Chief Editor of BSS Abul Kalam Azad, and General Secretary of district Awami League Sheikh Lutfar Rahman spoke as special guests.
