BRAHMANBARIA, Mar 12: Nine members of a family including five children were burnt in a fire at a house in Kuttapara area under Sarail upazila here on Friday evening.
The fire might have originated due to leak in the pipeline of a gas cylinder, Fire Brigade sources said.
Of the injured, Kalu Mia, 28, Abdur Rahman, 8, and Yamin Mia, 8, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition while Sheuli Begum, 30, Jarina Begum, 25, Saima Begum, 10, and Taslima Begum, 10, to Brhmanbaria Sadar Hospital, and Ekhlas Mia, 25, and Ibrahim Mia, 18, to the upazila health complex.
Locals said the fire originated when Sheuli, wife of expatriate Russell Mia, tried to light up the stove in the kitchen and it soon engulfed the adjacent house, leaving nine injured.
