Bangladesh eves start with a big defeat

Bangladesh National Women Cricket team started their World T20 mission with a big defeat as they lost their first match against Indian eves by 72 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Tuesday.
India posted a huge 163 runs for five wickets after they were sent to bat first. In pursuit, Bangladesh could hardly manage 91 runs losing five wickets.
Chasing the target of 164 runs Bangladesh started to lose wickets at regular intervals from the very beginning. Bangladesh were nowhere to make the match competitive as they were scoring far behind of the asking rate.
Opener Sharmin Akhter and middle order batter Nigar Sultana showed some resistance scoring 21 and 27* runs respectively which only reduced the losing margin.
Besides, these two Fahima scored 14, Rumana made 12 and skipper Jahanara scored 10 runs.
For India, Anuja Patil and Poonam Yadav grabbed two wickets each.
Bangladesh will face England in their second game on Thursday.
Earlier, skipper Mithali Raj and Vellaswamy Vanitha presented a flying start to India adding 62 runs for the opening stand.
Vellaswamy Vanitha got out scoring 38 runs off 24 balls with seven fours while Mithali made the highest 42 runs hitting five fours.
In the middle, Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy played two stormy innings to take the total to 163 runs.
Harmanpreet Kaur made 40 runs off just 29 balls with three fours and two sixes while Krishnamurthy contributed unbeaten 36 runs off 24 balls hitting two over boundaries.
For Bangladesh, Fahima Khatun hauled two wickets.
