
The announcement came from a students’ blockade programme at Shahbagh in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Progotisheel Chhatra Jote and Samrajjobad Birodhi Chhatra Oikya extended their support to the April 3 strike.
Enraged students blockaded Shahbagh intersection at about 12:45 which continued till 4pm to protest the killing of the theatre activist that disrupted traffic on the road.
Transport movement became normal after the students removed blockade at about 4pm.
Meanwhile, students alleged that law enforcers charged batons on them in a bid to remove them from the area.
Sohagi Jahan Tonu, also a member of Victoria College Theatre, was found dead in a bush beside a culvert inside the Comilla Cantonment area in the night of March 20. Her head was smashed, and she had allegedly been raped.
The killing of Tonu sparked strong protest across the country.
