Training
of 1,800 government officials has so far been completed at home and
abroad on e-governance including cyber security to check the fast
growing cybercrimes causing a serious threat to the information, data
and services of the government. The 1,800 officials have been given
training as part of the government's plan of providing training to a
total of 2,500 officials including IT personnel of the ministries,
departments and directorates to build their capacity to run e-governance
activities, especially checking cyber threat under the World Bank
financed Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT)
Project of the government, official sources said. The 70 million US
dollar LICT Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under ICT
Division has been launched in February 2013 to establish e-government
foundation and build skilled human resources for the IT sector of
Bangladesh. "We want to build capacity of government officials to run
e-governance activities including IT project management, ethical
hacking, cyber security," said ICT Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder.
