A day long training workshop on disaster management tilted 'Disaster Risk Reduction' held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) yesterday.
Department of Government and Politics (GP) and GP Alumni Association jointly organised the function at the university seminar room at 10 am.
Chairman of GP Department and the Alumni Association Associate, Prof Bashir Ahmed conducted the function while UNDP's Food Programmer in Caribbean and African regions and former disaster specialist of UN, Taherul Islam Khan trained up the participants, highlighted on
disaster management and risk reduction in the world especially in
the context of Bangladesh.
He also discussed the disaster management and risk reduction in light of his own experiences in the context of previous and subsequent disasters happened in Asian, Caribbean and African regions.
Among others, Joint Secretary of Alumni Association, Nihar Ranjan Sanyal, Organizing Secretary, Muksimul Ahsan Apu, Assistant Organizing Secretary, Kamrul Hasan, Social Welfare Secretary, Sabina Yeasmin, Assistant Publicity Secretary, Rokonuzzaman Piash and former students of the department were present at the programme.
