Mohammad Abdul Mannan has taken over the charge of Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) for the third term.
Mr Mannan has been performing as MD and CEO with the same bank since 2010, said a press release.
He received 'The Asian Banker CEO Leadership Achievement Award-2016' -- a prestigious award for the CEO's of Asia Pacific and the Gulf regions.
Under his leadership, Islami Bank achieved 'The Best Managed Bank in Bangladesh' award.
The banker made outstanding contribution in popularising Islamic banking, developing human capital for the industry, expanding welfare-oriented inclusive banking, promoting rural finance and expatriates' remittance through banking channel.
Mohammad Abdul Mannan at present holds the position of Vice-chairman of Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB), Treasurer and Chairman of Arbitration Committee of Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association (BAFEDA) and Chairman of Task Committee of Islamic Banks Consultative Forum (IBCF).
A fellow of Malaysia-based International Centre for Leadership in Finance, he participated as the resource person in different national and international seminar, workshop and conference on Banking and Islamic microfinance.
He is a writer who authored a number of books on Bangladesh studies and Islamic banking.
Mohammad Abdul Mannan completed his Master's from the University of Dhaka with Honour's in Political Science.
