JESSORE, June 3: A total of 120 heads of smuggled cattle were seized in several drives by the members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) from different frontiers in the district last week. The seized cattle valued about Taka one crore were smuggled into Bangladesh from India, evading government's VAT, the BGB sources said. Importers have to pay Tk 500 to the government as vat for each cattle-head import from India through Benapole border, the customs sources said. Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir Hossain, 26 Battalion Commander of Jessore BGB, said the seized cattle were handed over to Benapole Customs on Wednesday. ?BSS
