The High Court has asked to remain shut the shops of Mouchak Market in the capital until its renovation as per the building code.

An HC bench of Justice Quamrul Islam Siddique and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil came up with the order on Monday asking the Rajuk and the housing secretary to carry out its order.

The HC also issued a rule asking to explain why it should not declare the Rajuk's renovation order illegal.

After receiving BUET’s recommendations, Rajuk sent a letter to the authorities of Mouchak Market in city's Malibagh area on May 2.

In the letter, Rajuk cited the building risky and asked them to renovate it clearing shops.
 
But, challenging Rajuk's order, building owner Ashraf Kamal Pasha filed a writ petition with the HC.
