2 killed in city 'gunfight'
'They had link with killing of Prof Rezaul, attack on Shia mosque'

The two members of  banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), who were killed in a 'gunfight' in city's Pallabi area early Tuesday, were involved in the killing of Rajshahi University Professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee murder and attack on Bogra Shia mosque.

Monirul Islam, additional commissioner of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told reporters at a press briefing at the DMP media centre on Tuesday.

Among the deceased, Tareque Hasan Milu hailed from Joypurhat and Sultan Mahmud alias Kamal from Dinajpur.

"Tareque hacked RU Prof Rezaul to death. He also led the killing mission while Sultan shot dead a man during the attack on a Shia mosque in Shibganj upazila of Bogra, " said Monirul Islam.
