Shah Alamgir's job as PIB DG extended

Staff Correspondent The government has extended the job tenure of Director General (DG) of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Shah Alamgir for two more years. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification to this effect on Sunday.
A noted personality as a journalist and in leadership of Dhaka Union of Journalists for a long time, Shah Alamgir was appointed DG of PIB on July 7, 2013.
After the appointment, he led PIB to a new height through his dynamic leadership and mobilisation capacity and strong support of the journalist community. In addition to his current duty, the government entrusted him with the responsibility of Managing Director of the Journalist Welfare Trust on May 18, 2015. A career journalist, Alamgir obtained BA (Hons) and MA in Bangla literature from the Dhaka University. He also obtained diploma in journalism from Moscow Institute of Journalism, Russia.
Alamgir started his career with Kishor Bangla of now defunct Observer group. He worked in different capacities like Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in private TV channels Asian Television, Chief News Editor of Maasranga and Ekushe, director news of Jamuna TV, joint news editor in the daily Prothom Alo. He also worked with daily Azad, Janata, Banglar Bani and Sangbad.
