KHULNA, Sept 9: Rear Admiral Mohammad Mozammel Haque has been appointed as chairman of Mongla Port Authority (MPA) in the month of August. He joined the MPA on August 26, says a press release issued on Monday. Mozammel Haque started his carrier as officer cadet at Bangladesh Naval Academy on April 15 in 1982. He was commissioned in the Executive Branch in Bangladesh Navy on April 15, 1985. He attended various professional courses both at home and abroad and obtained 1st class in all the graded courses. Prior to joining the MPA, he was appointed as Commander in Khulna Naval Area. Besides, he also served as chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, Drafting Authority at Naval Headquarters, Director Naval Operations, and Director Naval Plans at Naval Headquarters. He commanded BNS Haji Mohsin, Bangladesh Naval Academy, BNS Bangabandhu, BNS Osman, BNS Umar Farooq, BNS Madhumati and BNS Sahjalal.
Mozammel Haque also participated in UN Mission under United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in 2010 under Maritime Task Force 448, where he commanded BNS Osman (Frigate). He has been awarded "Nau Utkorsha Podak (NUP)" in 2014 for his outstanding contribution to BN Development and has been awarded CNS Commendation twice in 1987 and 2005 for his outstanding achievement in Anti-Smuggling Operations in the Bay of Bengal.
