Tigers take on Ireland in second official practice match today
Bangladesh National Cricket Team will engage with Ireland in the 2nd of the two official practice matches ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup today at the ADC Oval 1 ground in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The match will commence at 8:00pm (BST).
Bangladesh lost the 1st official warm-up match against Sri Lank by four wickets on Tuesday though they played sans their three key players. Skipper Mahmudullah didn't play due to back pain, is possibly remain in rest today as well while Mustafizur Rahman was given rest, who just joined the team after IPL business, is sure to play today.
Shakib Al Hasan on the other hand, is still in the KKR tent to play offs and will join the national side before the World Cup matches.
Batting first Bangladesh posted 147 runs on the board losing seven wickets. Soumya Sarkar was the leading scorer with 34 off 26 and none other of the Tigers batter could surpass even 20 runs. Acting skipper Liton Das and Mahedi Hasan both scored 16 each while Nurul Hasan Shohan collected 15 and Naim Sheikh gathered 11 runs.
Dusmanth Chameera claimed three wickets for Sri Lanka while Lahiru Kumara, Mahesh Thikshana, Wanindu Hasaranga and skipper Dasun Sanaka shared one wicket each.
Sri Lanka in reply, lost six wickets to manage 75 runs only but they turn around strongly ridding on the bat of Avishka Fernando and Chamika Karunaratne. Avishka slaughtered 62 off 32 and batted till the end while Chamika remained unbeaten on 26 as Sri Lanka reached the target keeping four wickets at hand with six balls to go.
Soumya took two wickets while Taskin Ahmed, Mahedi and Shoriful Islam shared one wicket each.
Bangladesh however, are not worried about the defeat against Sri Lanka and are clearly favourite today despite their middle order batters continue sorry figures. Mustafizur Rahman's comeback will however, will add strength to the bowling unit.
Bangladesh will be playing in Group B of the 1st round along with co-hosts Oman, Scotland and Papua New Guinea and top two sides of the group will be qualified for the Super Twelve round.
Tigers will take on Scotland on October 17 followed by play against Oman on October 19 and the PNG on October 21.
