Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman on Tuesday said he thinks that fuel price will be dropped.

Even if the price does not go down to the previous level but it will be dropped, he added.

The prime minister adviser’s made the comment at ‘Meet the reporters’ held at Dhaka Reporters Unity in Dhaka.

In reply to query from journalists on fuel price hike, Salman F Rahman said, “The Prime Minister already had talked about the price of fuel. But I think it will come down. Even if the price does not go down to the previous level, it will be dropped.”

However, this is not the case that transport fare has increased due to rise in fuel price, said the PM’s adviser adding that “The cost of shipping has increased a lot. The cost of transporting containers associated with shipping has also increased.”

Regarding the capital market, he said there are no institutional investors in the capital market of our country.

“Eighty percent of all transactions here are from retail or general investors. The remaining 20 percent comes from institutional investors. Compared to the capital market of the developed world, the picture of Bangladesh is completely opposite. Our capital market is equity based.”

He further said. “There is no bond market here. We are working to develop the bond market. The present chairman and commissioner are also sincere in this regard. Hopefully, if the bond market becomes popular, the capital market will recover.”

DRU President Mursalin Nomani and general secretary Moshiur Rahman Khan were also present at that time.
