Five held while preparing for robbery in Tangail

Police on Thursday night arrested five members of a robber gang while preparing for committing robbery at Mirzapur upazila in Tangail district.

The arrestees are Razu Miah, 22, Nadim, 27, Fazal, 37,  Sajadul Islam, 41, and Rashedul Islam Lalu, 27.

Police said acting on a tip-off that a robber gang was taking preparation to commit robbery on the Dhaka-Tangail highway at Bawar Kumerjani area at night, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and nabbed them with arms.
Sensing the presence of police, some managed to flee from the scene, said Mirzapur police Station assistant sub-inspector Mosharof Hossain.

However, a case was filed against the arrested persons with the police station and they were produced before the court on Friday, he added.
