Debarati Bhattacharyya comes up with thirty-seven postmodern poems --- mostly in poesy-prose style --- in her book titled Bhorer Kuasha Bujhi Tumi (As If You --- My Dawn-Mist) published by Pathok (Kolkata) in 2013.
Debarati's visual imageries seem offspring of Mother Nature --- in most poems, for instance: 'Prothombar' (For the First Time), 'Trishna' (Thirst), 'Brishti Asheni' (No Rain) and many more. Few are in rhyme scheme, yet postmodern in structure --- precise free verse, like 'Shongshoy' (Confusion), 'Prosno' (Question), 'Onko' (Math), and to be specific 'Khela' (Play).
Her poesy word-play is evident in 'Kabipokkho (With Poets)', her portrayal of Kolkata setting is vivid in '24/7', her usage of paradox under the veil of social criticism in 'Local Train-e' (In Local Train) is praiseworthy. The poem 'Facebook' is a perfect example of postmodernism where through nursery rhyme scheme Debarati sarcastically contemporize her verses.
Patriarchal metanarrative is well-weaved in 'Sidurkhela' (Sindoor-game) talking about matrimony from the perspective of Indian subcontinent; on the other hand, readers might find themselves entrapped in social Darwinism in 'Hariye Jachhe Ki' (What are getting lost). Marx and hegemony bloom in 'Shadhin Amra' (Free, We Are). Another satirical Marxist poem is 'Atmabiswas' (Self-confidence) and a blend of romanticism with feminism pop up in 'Obadhho Meye' (Prodigal Girl). Debarati constructs her poesies in this book with great whiz.
It is noteworthy, Debarati's nostalgic attitude regarding the great partition in history, divided Bengal, is picturized in 'Padmaparer Mamabari', where the poet shares her attachment with Bengal and Bangla language.
The book Bhorer Kuasha Bujhi Tumi (As If You --- My Dawn-Mist) tells a compact poesy-tale, and Debarati scribbles her thoughts in vibrant poesy manner combining many social and individual issues, providing a critical approach towards today's world, thus being rooted, the book becomes global.
