Business entities which will remain open after 8pm

The government has decided to keep shops, shopping malls, markets and groceries closed after 8:00pm on Monday (June 20) in accordance with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's directive to save power and energy.

The decision was taken at a meeting at the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Sunday. Aktarul Islam, public relation officer of the ministry, confirmed it.

The establishments which can be kept opened after 8:00pm are:

1. Docks, jetties, stations, airports and transport service terminal offices;
2. Shops selling vegetables, fish, meat, bakery, bread, sweets and flower selling shops;
3. Shops selling medicine, operation equipment, bandage or medical treatment related goods;
4. Shops selling goods necessary for burial and cremation;
5. Shops selling tobacco, betel leaf, bidi, ice, newspapers and magazines, and light food items taken sitting at shops;
6. Petrol pumps, and motor vehicle service stations;

7. Saloon and related cosmetics shops;

8. Any kind of cleaning entity and healthcare centres;

9. Clubs, hotels, restaurants, food shops, cinemas, and theaters.
