A teenage boy allegedly committed suicide in Jamalpur's Sharishabari upazila on Wednesday night as his parents could not buy a new motorcycle for him.
Deceased Hanif Palwan, 16, son of Saher Palwan, was a resident of Char Sharishabari village in the upazila.
Police said Hanif committed suicide coming on a Facebook live around 10 am. Before that, he wrote a status on his Facebook wall saying that he will not live as his parents did not buy a new motorcycle.
Sensing the matter, family members rescued him and rushed him to the upazila health complex.
He was declared dead there.
The victim's parents said they bought an old bike for him and are trying to manage money to purchase a new one. He demanded for a new bike for a long time.
The deceased's uncle said Hanif killed himself in a huff with his parents because of delaying in collecting money for the new bike.
Sharishabari Police Station sub-inspector confirmed the death news.
