BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy speaks to reporters after paying tributes to the graveyard of party founder Ziaur Rahman along with Khandker Abu Ashfaque and Nipun Roy Chowdhury, president and general secretary of the newly appointed committee of Dhaka District BNP on Thursday.

Main opposition BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has said, "The BNP has sought permission to hold rally at the party office premises at Nayapaltan in the capital for December 10 next. We are determined to hold our rally there. If they (government) doesn't give us permission, we'll hold our rally there. BNP will hold its rally whether it receives permission or not. We will not wait for the permission. We must have to remember that this country belongs to all of us."

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy was talking to reporters after paying tributes to the graveyard of party founder Ziaur Rahman along with Khandker Abu Ashfaque and Nipun Roy Chowdhury, president and general secretary of the newly appointed committee of Dhaka District BNP on Thursday.

Asked where the BNP would hold its grand rally in Dhaka, Gayeshwar said Awami League would remain alert in each ward of Dhaka.

When asked whether they were afraid of any clash, he said, "We have already held seven grand rallies. Awami League is trying to create chaos everywhere. They have tried to stop BNP rallies using the administration, keeping the transports closed. So, we have learnt that they would also do it in Dhaka. It is not unusual for us. We don't think that they will become good overnight. But, we will not put out feet in the government's traps. We will join the rally avoiding conflicts."

Asked whether they wanted to make any announcement of the movement to unseat the government, Gayeshwar said, "December 10 is far away from now. You attend the December 10 rally. We will not tell anything advance."

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Dhaka City North BNP convener Amanullah Aman, chairperson's adviser Abul Khair Bhuiyan, and Dhaka District BNP's former president Dr Dewan Salahuddin, among others, were present.
