Non-stop bus strike in Rajshahi two days before BNP rally


Transport owners and workers in eight districts of Rajshahi division have been observing an indefinite strike began on Thursday morning.

No transports were was seen leaving or entering Rajshahi this morning. Only BRTC buses are moving.

Shafkat Manjur Biplob, president of Rajshahi divisional Road Transport Owners-Workers' Unity Council, called the strike on November 26 to press home their 11-point demands, including ban of moving illegal vehicles on the highway.

Commuters' suffering mounted as Rajshahi's communication with the whole country halted due to the strike. The first day's transport strike paralysed the district. 

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is scheduled to hold its rally in the district on Saturday (December 3).

Additional passengers' pressure rush to train. The train tickets have already been sold.
