The combined hall farewell ceremony of the students of Rajshahi University (RU) in the academic session of 2016-17 has been held with colorful activities.
Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar, vice-chancellor of the university, inaugurated the celebration as the chief guest at Sheikh Kamal Stadium with resident and non-resident students of all halls at around 11 am.
During the inauguration, he said 'This reception was given as the ceremonial studies of the university were over. But this is not the end, you will go to a bigger arena. There you will be responsible for the family as well as the university.'
Moreover, I hope that your mutual brotherhood will increase through this joyous event, he added.
Pro-vice-chancellors professor Md. Sultan-ul-Islam and professor Md. Humayun Kabir, treasurer professor Md. Abaidur Rahman Pramanik and provosts of all halls were present as the special guests at the event.
Earlier, the hall administration and students arranged a colorful procession and paraded the main streets of the university.
Later, a discussion, distribution of crests and cultural programs were held at Sabas Bangladesh ground at 3:30 pm.
Sujan Sen, convener of the provosts of the halls, said that 1906 resident and non-resident students are participating in the combined hall finals. Like last year, they also organized the program this year. If the halls are closed individually, it is seen that the closing of all the halls takes more time and delays. So we organized the finale in all the halls, he added.
This year, around 2,000 students from 17 halls and one dormitory participated in the farewell ceremony.
