A Jhenaidah court has sentenced five people to life term imprisonment and seven others to five years jail for killing a businessman in 2010.
Judge Md Bahauddin Ahmed of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-1 passed the verdict. The court also acquitted four others from the case as their guilt were not proven.
The convicts who were sentenced life term imprisonment are--- Anisur Rahman (Absconding), Rentu Hosen, Chandu (Absconding), Atiar Rahman (Absconding), Manik Hosen.
The convicts who sentenced five years jail are--- Nasrin Khatun, Akram Hosen, Jamir Ali, Ajifa Begum, Achem Ali, Yusuf Molla and Parul Begum.
According to a prosecution documents, the victim businessman Nobi Hosen went missing from Harinakunda upazila on October 7, 2010.
Someone called his family and demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom. Brother of the victim filed a case with Jhenaidah Police Station on October 9 on the same year in this regard.
According to the confession of Nasrin and Anisur police recovered the body of Nobi buried at the house of Jamir Ali on October 31, 2010.
After investigation a chargesheet was submitted May 24, 2011.
