2 killed as easy-bike rammed by bus in Faridpur

Two people, including a 3-year-old child, were killed and three others injured when a battery-run easy-bike was rammed by bus on the Dhaka-Khulna highway on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened at Kaichal crossing under Nagarkanda upazila in Faridpur district at around 4:00pm.
The deceased were identified as Marjina Begum, 45, wife of Mostaque Ahmed, and Ismail, 3, inhabitants of Tuguldia village of Saltha upazila in the district.

According to locals, a speeding Seba Green Line Paribahan bus rammed an easy-bike from the opposite direction at the crossing area, leaving two passengers of the easy-bike dead on the spot and three others critically injured.

Locals rushed the injured to Bangha Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor referred them to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College and Hospital in Faridpur.

Bangha Police Station officer-in-charge Taimur Islam said being informed, police rushed there and recovered the bodies.

Later, police seized the bus and easy-bike however the drivers and helpers of the vehicles managed to flee the scene.

Legal steps are under process in this regard, the OC added.
