Miscreants set ablaze to a cargo truck during the second day of the
BNP-
Jamaat's
blockade at Sadar upazila in
Bogura district on Wednesday afterboon.
The incident took place at around 1.00pm in Baghopara area under the upazila.
The cargo truck, loaded with shipwreck goods, was heading towards Matidali area in Bogura from Chattogram. On the way, when it reached Baghopara area round 12:45pm, a group of 6-7 masked miscreants stopped the truck, poured petrol on it, and set
fire on it before fleeing the scene, said Shahadat Hossain, the helper of the truck.
Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel rushed there and with the help of police they managed to extinguish the blaze.
Gobindganj Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Aminul Islam confirmed the matter adding that investigation is on in this regard to identify the miscreants.
Additionally, a covered van was also vandalized by the miscreants in Tinmatha area of the highway in the morning. At that time, they detonated four to five cocktails, he said.
Being informed, law enforcement rushed to the spot and dispersed the miscreants by firing at least 10 rounds of tear gas shells in the vicinity, he added.
