The spectator, who entered the playground during the final game between India and Australia in the 2023 Cricket World Cup in Ahmedabad, has been placed on one-day remand.
Remanded Wayne Johnson, 24, an Australian citizen, works at a solar panel company.
During the match on Sunday (November 19), Johnson went inside the field wearing a mask and a t-shirt surrounded with claims of ending the attack on Palestinian grounds by Israeli forces and, later, tried to embrace Indian batter Virat Kohli on the 14th over of the Indian innings of the match.
There was written "Stop bombing Palestine" on the front-side of his t-shirt and "Free Palestine" on the backside.
During the questioning, he said that he was a fan of Virat Kohli despite being an Australian citizen. He entered the ground only for embracing Kohli. He had no any other intentions.
Indian crime branch sources said that entering the ground in any world event is the nature of Johnson and he tries to give messages on current issues.
Earlier, Johnson did the same thing during a match of the FIFA Women's World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand this year. He also entered the field in a rugby match in 2020.
