Eight more people died from dengue fever across the country during the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 1,562 this year.
Among the new deaths, five were reported in Dhaka and three others were outside the capital.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), some 1,084 patients were hospitalised with viral fever during this period.
Among the new patients, 221 were admitted to the hospital in the capital and 863 are outside it.
A total of 4,462 patients are currently receiving treatment from different hospitals across the country.
As many as 3,03,536 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country this year and 2,97,512 out of the hospitalised patients, however, recovered during the period.
The country recorded 281 dengue deaths in 2022, the highest on record after the 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Additionally, the DGHS recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
