A teenager schoolboy was
beaten to death in a clash at Purbadhala upazila in
Netrokona district on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rejaul Karim Titu, 17, son of Mohammad Ali, a resident of West Budhi village under Agiya union of the upazila. He was an SSC candidate from Purbadhala J M Pilot High School.
According to locals, a clash took place between the victim's uncle and one Rumon Talukder, vice president of Bangladesh Chhatra League's Purbadhala Upazila unit over excavation of a land. At that time, Rumon along with his cohorts attacked Rejaul when he tried to protect his uncle, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued him and took to Purbadhala Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
After hearing the death news, the friends of the deceased attacked on the accused house and vandilised their goods.
Being informed, police have detained two persons from the spot and additional police were deployed in the scene, said Muhammad Rashedul Islam, officer-in-charge of Purbadhala Police Station.
Later, the body was sent to a hospital morgue for autopsy and legal action would be taken in this regard, the OC added.
