Bus set afire in Cumilla

Miscreants set fire to a stationary bus along the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Debidwar upazila in Cumilla district early Sunday, during the latest countrywide blockade of road, rail and waterways called by the BNP and like-minded opposition parties.

The incident took place at around 3am adjacent to Bagur Filling Station in the area under the upazila.
Debidwar Police Station officer-in-charge Md Noyon Mia said a group of miscreants set fire to a Tisha Paribahan bus when it was parked beside the highway and the helper of the bus was in sleep inside the vehicle.

Being informed, poolice and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the blaze, he said.

However, no casualties were reported in this regard and police are trying to identify and arrest the miscreants, added the OC.
