The local administration in Narayanganj shows neutrality as per the commitment of the prime minister, said Trinamool BNP secretary general and Narayanganj-1 constituency's MP candidate Advocate Taimur Alam Khondker.
He made the remark during an election campaign at Rupashi area in Roopganj under Narayanganj on Friday (December 29).
Taimur Alam said the local administration has still remained neutral in Narayanganj in the context of prime minister's commitment for a fair election.
"However, we will be able to tell on January 7 how much they will remain neutral," he said.
The Trinamool BNP secretary general said he has been receiving overwhelming responses from voters at grassroots level. People are coming out of their homes. The fear and arrest which existed in the past don't exist now.
Taimur Alam said governance does exist in the country, but not the good governance. The ruling party enjoys a type of treatment, while the opposition parties face another type of treatment. "BNP leaders and workers are with me. Many BNP leaders were relieved off from their posts during the city corporation election. Big leaders think in one way, while local people think in another way."
The Trinamool BNP leader observed that people at local levels want to see that their problems are resolved and they seen security. On the other hand, big leaders always think of how to go to power. And the local people provide them security. They understand who grab their property and who donate them property. "I have wanted a free and fair election. Whenever I met the prime minister, I requested her to hold a free and fair election. I think that voters will be driven by their conscience."
