Police recovers body of 70-yr old man from JU

Police recovered the body of a 70-year-old dead man from the washroom of the central mosque next to the main entrance of the Jahangirnagar University (JU).

The body was recovered by Ashulia police around 8:00pm on Thursday.  

The deceased was identified as Danisur Rahman. He was a resident of Shahidnagar No. 3 Street under the Lalbagh area of the capital and the father of Mohammad Ali, 30, who is a businessman on the campus.

Mohidul Islam, a cleaner of the university central mosque, said, "When I went to clean the toilet as usual, I saw that a door was closed from  inside for a long time. I considered that to be suspicious.  Later, I contacted the security personnel of the university."

Sudipta Shaheen, Chief Security Officer of the university, said, "After getting informed, we observed the situation and conveyed the message to Ashulia Police Station."

"Later, they came along with their forces and recovered the body," he added.

SM Kamruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Ashulia Police Station, said, "We recovered the body of an old man from the campus. We will take further action in this connection as per prevailing laws."
