Boy electrocuted while celebrating 31st night

KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR, Jan 1: A teenage boy was electrocuted while celebrating Decembers 31st night in Kaliganj Upazila of the district on Sunday night.
The incident took place at around 8 pm in Chuarikhola Village under Tumulia Union of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Md Miraz, 17, son of Mobarak Hossain, a resident of the aforesaid village.
Quoting the deceaseds brother, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kaliganj Police Station Md Kamal Hossain said Miraz came into contact with a live electric wire when he attempted to set a speaker to celebrate the 31st night, which left him critically injured.
He was then rescued and taken to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead at around         9:15 pm.
Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceaseds family members without an autopsy upon their request, the SI added.
