Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman said on Monday that in Dhaka out of 2,146 polling centres half are identified vulnerable and 478 are low-risk centres.
Speaking with the journalists at Rajarbagh Police Lines School and College in the capital after the textbook distribution programme he said, "Alongside police, Ansar members will remain alert to maintain law and order inside the polling centres. Outside of the stations other law enforcement agencies also perform the duties as patrolling troops."
He said, "Police are working to hold the 12th general election schedule to hold on January 7 in a festive mood. DMP has chalked out a plan for security arrangements, considering half of the polling centres out of 2,146 to be vulnerable and 778 are low-risk centres."
Claiming that the security arrangements taken by DMP are strong Habibur Rahman said, "All preparations centring the election are going on in full swing and voting will be held in a free, fair and peaceful manner."
