Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday called upon the countrymen to go to polling centres on January 7 with family members and other relatives early in the day to cast their votes.

"The country saw no development during the rule by  illegal power grabbers who seized power violating the constitution with the strength of arms. The symbol Boat brought independence and development. To continue the development, everyone should to go the polling centres early in the day on January 7, with their family members and relatives to vote for Boat," Sheikh Hasina said addressing a mammoth election rally at the Government Rajendra College Ground in Faridpur on Tuesday afternoon.

Faridpur District AL President Shamim Haque, the ruling party candidate in  Faridpur-3 constituency, presided over the rally while AL Presidium Member Abdur Rahman, AL candidate in Faridpur-1, candidate in Faridpur-2 Shahadab Akbar Labu Chowdhury, AL candidate in Magura-1 cricketer Shakib Al Hasan, AL candidate in Rajbari-1 Kazi Keramat Ali, Rajbari-2 candidate Jillul Hakim, AL Organising Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, Office Secretary Biplob Borua, Faridpur district AL general secretary Shah Md Ishtiaque Arif, and Mayor of Faridpur Amitav Bose also spoke.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Conspiracies are being hatched. But, I would not bow down to any conspiracy or any person. In 2001, I was prevented from taking office because I refused to sell the countrys gas to foreigners, unlike Khaleda Zia, who came to power by endorsing a deal to sell it."

Seeking vote for her partys election symbol Boat, the AL President reiterated that the countrys people saw economic development whenever Awami League was in power.

"Bangladesh witnessed no development when the violators of the constitution were in power using arms. There has been development only when Awami League came to power," she said.

She said, "Boat brought your independence and developed your living standard".

She said, "If Boat alone is there in power, people of Bangladesh will stay safe and in peace."

"Will you cast your votes for Boat? Promise me, please raise your hands," she urged, the people spontaneously responded raising their hands and chanting full throated slogan, Boat, Boat.

She said, "Give befitting reply to arson terrorism of BNP by voting for Awami League candidates. The l candidates whom I have nominated will serve you and ensure development in your areas."

They brought hundreds of boats to the venue of the rally where boat shaped stage was built for Sheikh Hasina to address her listeners.

Security was beefed up in the town for the rally. More than 100 loudspeakers were installed across the town.

District AL General Secretary Ishtiaq Arif said about one lakh people attended the rally.

All the AL candidates in constituencies across Faridpur, Magura and Rajbari districts attended the rally.

"There e so many conspiracies. Those who didn support the Liberation War, have not stopped hatching conspiracies," she said, adding, as the conspirators know that Bangladesh would never bow down to any one, they are hatching conspiracy one after another.
