Police recovered the body of a village policeman who was on duty of guarding a polling centre in Rajbari's Baliakandi upazila on Saturday.

The incident happened in the morning at Char Arkandi Government Primary School under the upazila.
Deceased Ranjit Kumar Dey, 40, was a resident of Char Arkandi village.

It was learnt that the village policeman Ranjit Kumar was on duty from Friday evening at the polling centre along with the school's night guard Yusuf Hossain. Around 3:30 am, Ranjit went to a garden behind the school to respond to natural call. When Ranjit did not return even after half an hour, the night guard kept calling him. As Ranjit did not respond, the night guard informed his school madam and the local member over phone.

Later, at around 5 am, the body of Ranjit was found in the garden next to the toilet of the school.

Baliakandi Police officer-in-charge Alamgir Hosen told The Daily Observer that the body has been sent to Rajbari for autopsy. Initially, it seemed that he was killed. Action will be taken after investigation.
