AL leader hacked dead near Munshiganj polling centre

A 'boat symbol' supporter was hacked to death in Munshiganj district on Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 9:30am near a polling centre at Tengoe area under Mirkadim municipality of Sadar upazila.

Deceased Zillur Rahman, 45, was a supporter of AL-nominated candidate from Munshiganj-3 Mrinal Kanti Das and vice-president of Mirkadim municipality Sramik League.

Rehena Begum, wife of Zillur Rahman, alleged that independent candidate Md Shahidul Islam, also the former municipal mayor, and municipal council Md Liton's followers killed Zillur.

Superintendent of Munshiganj police Aslam Khan confirmed the death news.
